| Rainwater Tanks
Due to the changes in our climate and the long lasting effects of the drought, more and more people are taking the initiative and becoming more responsible for their water usage by installing water tanks and other water saving devices. We can install your pre purchased tank, or can supply and install for you.
Tanks range in capacity from 1000 Litres to 33,000 Litres depending on your available space, and what you intend for its use. The tanks are made using tough polyethylene with a straight walled construction for strength. If you are short on space another option is to install a bladder tank under your deck or house ensuring that anyone can enjoy the benefits of harvesting their own water.

Even if you think that you may not have enough rainfall in your area to make a tank viable, an installation if done correctly, can fill a rainwater tank with very little rain. Heavy dew and light showers can provide substantial harvesting potential. To calculate your harvesting potential you can visit the Bureau of Meteorolgy to establish the average rainfall in your area, then calculate using the formula.
To calculate your rainwater harvesting capacity multiply your roof area in metres by the average rainfall in mm in your area.
For example: 250mm of rainfall over a 36 square metre shed = 9,000L
This is a simplified method of calculating the size of tank you may require.
Tanks are available in a large range of colorbond Colours to blend with your home and environment.
Government Rebates are available on water tanks and the amount changes depending on the size of the tank that you are installing, and the intended uses for it.
For further information on the Rebate Scheme visit ourwater.vic.gov.au/saving/home where you will find a wealth of information on how to save water, and claim a rebate on your water saving products.

Solar Hot Water
Solar Hot Water is becoming increasingly popular with Australian Householders. We are all bombarded constantly with the responsibility of reducing our Greenhouse emissions on an individual level and a National one. Children all over Australia are aware of the 'black balloons' and the need to conserve energy.
The Australian Greenhouse Office awards Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). These are awarded based on how much your energy system saves in comparison with an electric water heater.
Earth Choice Plumbing Services are registered with the Department of Sustainability as Suppliers of Solar Hot Water Systems.
Due to the rebates on water saving technologies a Solar Hot Water System can be installed for approximately the same cost as a replacement hot water service.
Systems are designed based on the amount of people in your household, and what your needs are. A booster system is required and these can be gas or electric. An electric booster operates on a thermostat and maintains a minimum temperature in the tank. A gas booster only operates on the solar tank outlet line and boosts only when the hot water is in use as required.

Greywater Systems
In order to maximize water usage and consumption many people are choosing to treat or divert their greywater. Greywater Treatment systems actually treat the water using a variety of different methods. Diversion systems simply divert greywater from an area such as your laundry, and pump it out onto your garden via a small irrigation system.
Treatment systems can be quite expensive but are definitely worth the money if you are can afford it. But for making use of waste water in an economical way, Diversion systems are definitely recommended.
The diversion unit is hooked up to whichever waste water sources you want to use, and is then pumped out on to your garden.
One thing to keep in mind when using systems such as these is that you are also pumping out any chemicals you may be using in these areas. This means that not only do you have to use green safe washing powders, shampoos, and soaps, but you also need to consider the cleaning products that you might use in these areas. A list of suitable products can be found on our products page.
